Your day begins early, with a 4:30 AM pickup from your hotel, embarking on an adventure to the famous Rainbow Mountain. After a scenic drive to Cusipata, you’ll stop for breakfast before continuing to the trailhead. The journey offers stunning views of the Andean highlands, including lush valleys and herds of alpacas and llamas grazing in the fields.
The trek starts at around 9:00 AM, taking approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes as you ascend to the summit of Vinicunca, commonly known as Rainbow Mountain. Standing at 5,036 meters above sea level, the mountain’s vivid layers of color, created by mineral deposits, make for a surreal and unforgettable sight. Take in panoramic views of the surrounding peaks, including the towering Ausangate mountain, the highest in the region.
After ample time to admire and photograph this natural wonder, you’ll make your way back to Cusipata for lunch. The tour concludes with a return to Cusco, arriving around 5:00 PM.
