FAQ's

Is there hotel pickup, or do we meet somewhere?

We meet at Parque Salazar in Larcomar, next to the Paddington Bear statue, at 09:00. There is no hotel pickup on this tour, but the meeting point is central to Miraflores and walkable from most hotels in the district; a short taxi ride covers it from anywhere else. The tour finishes at Huaca Pucllana at 13:00, a few blocks from Parque Kennedy.

How much walking is involved?

Four hours at an easy pace, spread across Miraflores with stops at each point. The clifftop stretch at Parque del Amor and the walk to Parque Kennedy are flat; the only real effort is the climb up Huaca Pucllana at the end. Lima sits at sea level, so unlike Cusco there is no altitude to contend with.

What is included in the price?

Your bilingual guide, the entrance ticket to Huaca Pucllana, a coffee break at Raiz Cafe near Parque Kennedy, and a tasting of exotic Peruvian fruit at the Surquillo Market, where you try things like chirimoya and granadilla. Meals are not included, and since the tour ends at 13:00 most people go straight to lunch afterwards; your guide can point you to the places locals actually use around Surquillo.

What should I wear in Lima?

Layers, whatever the season. From roughly May to November Lima sits under the garua, a low grey overcast that keeps the city cool and damp without really raining, so a light jacket is worth carrying. Between December and April it is sunny and humid and sun protection matters more. Comfortable shoes either way.

Is this a good tour for my first day in Lima?

It is one of the best ways to start. You get your bearings in Miraflores, see the coastline, taste fruit you will not find at home, and stand on a 1,500-year-old pyramid in the middle of the city, all before lunch. There is no minimum age and the pace suits families.
