Itinerary

Day 1: We kick off our adventure with a 3:00 a.m. pick-up from tourists’ hotels in a comfortable tourist vehicle. After a scenic three-hour drive, we will make our first stop in Chivay for ticket control and enjoy a delicious breakfast. Following this, we will head to the Achoma viewpoint to marvel at the stunning pre-Inca and Inca terraces.

Next, we will continue our journey to the Cruz del Cóndor, a must-see location where we will spend approximately 45 minutes witnessing the magnificent flight of the condors. Afterwards, we will arrive at the charming town of Cabanaconde, located at 3287 m.s.n.m., where our exhilarating canyon hike begins. We will make our way to the Pampa San Miguel viewpoints, soaking in the breathtaking views of the trek ahead.

We will then commence our descent towards San Juan de Chuccho, hiking for approximately three hours until we reach the Colca River, crossing a hanging bridge along the way. Upon reaching the lodge in San Juan de Chuccho, we will savor a delicious lunch. After replenishing our energy, we will explore the area’s fruit trees and medicinal plants. In the evening, we will gather for dinner at the agreed time, followed by a restful night in bungalows, wrapping up our first day.

Day 2: We wake up at the scheduled time to enjoy a hearty breakfast before continuing our exploration into the depths of the canyon. We will visit the quaint villages of Cosñirhua and Malata, making our way to the “Oasis Sangalle,” where we will arrive around 11:30 a.m. Here, we can unwind and spend a refreshing day by the pool at a temperature of 20°C. Afterward, we will indulge in a delightful lunch.

Visitors will have the chance to embark on small excursions through the oasis’s exotic surroundings. Following dinner, those who wish can participate in a bonfire led by our guide. We will spend the night in the oasis, relishing the tranquility of the environment.

Day 3: We will rise at 5:00 a.m., coordinating with our guide to start the ascent to Cabanaconde. Once at the summit, we will enjoy breakfast at a local restaurant before boarding our private bus to Chivay, with stops at key locations: first at the Antahuilque viewpoint, where we will admire the impressive Inca terraces and colorful lagoons, then at the village of Maca, where we can appreciate a colonial church, take photos with domesticated eagles and camels, as well as purchase local crafts and taste the traditional Colca Sour made from cactus fruit.

Continuing our journey, we will arrive in Chivay, the capital of the Colca Valley, and then head to the Calera Hot Springs, where we can enjoy relaxing waters at 38°C for an hour. Afterwards, we will return to Chivay for a lunch at the previously agreed time with the group. Following lunch, we will make our way to the city of Arequipa, stopping at the Andes viewpoint to take in the southern volcanic chain, and at the national reserve, where we can observe wildlife such as vicuñas and birds, along with domesticated camels like llamas and alpacas.

Thus, we will conclude our fascinating tour, arriving in Arequipa around 5:00 p.m. An unforgettable experience in Colca!
