Upriver to the lodge
- Pickup at Puerto Maldonado airport
- Road, then 45 km by boat up the Tambopata River, with lunch on board
- Afternoon walk among giant Brazil nut trees: capuchin monkeys, agoutis, toucans
- Night walk after dinner, looking for the night monkey

El Gato clay licks
- Early breakfast and 20 min by boat upriver
- Forest trail to the mammal clay lick, where herds of white-lipped peccaries come to feed
- Macaw clay lick: scarlet and red-and-green macaws eating the clay
- Lunch at the lodge, then a free afternoon: local farm, trails, a swim in the Gallocunca stream or a hammock
- Night: caiman search by boat

- The longest walk of the trip, on raised wooden walkways through swamp forest

Children 6 to 12 pay half, under 6 stay free. The national park entrance ticket (about $10 per person) is paid on site.

Before you book your flights
Arrive in Puerto Maldonado before 1:00 pm on day 1 and leave after 12:30 pm on day 4. Transfers are shared with other lodge guests. Jungle flights can be delayed by weather, so travel insurance with flight cover is a must.
