Getting from Lima airport to Miraflores looks simple until you walk out of customs to five options and people offering you rides. The Jorge Chávez airport moved to a new terminal in June 2025, and a lot of the advice online is out of date. I live in Lima and plan our travelers’ arrivals, so this is what works now: each option with its real price, where to find it inside the terminal, and what I’d pick depending on when you land.

Quick answer

  • Daytime, solo or on a budget: the Airport Express Lima bus, S/20 (S/15 each for 2+ on the same flight), with 4 stops in Miraflores.
  • Door to door, no booking: an official taxi from the counters in arrivals, roughly S/60–100 per car to Miraflores.
  • Landing at night, with kids or lots of bags: a private transfer booked in advance. Ours is USD 55 per vehicle for up to 4 people.
  • Drive time: 45–60 minutes to Miraflores, up to 90 at rush hour.
  • Never accept a ride from someone who approaches you at the exit.
Your situation What I’d pick Why
Daytime, solo, light luggage Airport Express Lima Cheapest safe option, stops near most hotels
Daytime, 2–3 people Official taxi Door to door, no waiting for the next bus
Landing after 10 p.m. Private transfer booked ahead The bus has stopped; your driver is already waiting
Family, 4+ people or lots of bags Private van One vehicle, fixed price, room for luggage
Layover of 10+ hours Lima stopover with a driver Timing planned around your flights

What Are the Ways to Get From Lima Airport to Miraflores?

There are four safe ways to get from Lima airport to Miraflores: the Airport Express Lima bus, an official airport taxi, a private transfer booked in advance and, with some caveats, a ride-hailing app like Uber or Cabify. Public AeroDirecto buses also serve the airport, but none of their routes reach Miraflores.

Option Price (Oct 2026) Where to find it
Airport Express Lima bus S/20; S/15 each for 2+ Its counter on level 1 (arrivals)
Official taxi About S/60–100 per car Counters in arrivals, level 1
Private transfer Ours: USD 55 per vehicle Driver with your name at the arrivals exit
Uber / Cabify Varies with demand Parking area, via level 2

The bus fares come from the airport’s own transport page (checked October 2026). The airport doesn’t publish taxi fares; the range is what we see when we plan arrivals, and it moves with the time, traffic and destination. Ask for the fixed fare at the counter before you pay.

How Much Is a Taxi From Lima Airport to Miraflores?

An official taxi from Lima airport to Miraflores costs roughly S/60–100 per car, depending on the time of day, traffic and where you’re going. You pay a fixed fare at the counter, not a meter.

Only three taxi companies authorized by the airport operator, Lima Airport Partners (LAP), can pick up at the arrivals level: Taxi Green, Taxi 365 and Taxi Directo, according to Andina. Their counters are in both domestic and international arrivals, and, according to the airport, staff take you to the car in a private parking area. There’s also a VIP option, Taxi Remisse, with higher-end cars.

Anyone who approaches you in the hall or outside offering a taxi is not one of them. Say no and keep walking.

Can You Use Uber or Cabify at Lima Airport?

Yes, Uber and Cabify can pick you up at the new Lima airport, but not at the terminal door: you meet the car in a designated parking area.

For Cabify, you go up to the second floor, cross the boulevard, turn left in front of the Hotel Costa del Sol and walk down the ramp to parking lot E1, according to Cabify’s help center, and the fare includes a parking supplement. Uber has its own signed pickup point in the parking area.

I don’t recommend apps for your arrival. You walk with your bags to a parking lot, you need mobile data that many travelers don’t have yet when they land, and the driver isn’t one the airport assigned you. Insecurity is a real issue in Lima, and your first hour, tired and loaded with luggage, is not the moment to take chances. Inside the city it’s different: I use Cabify myself to get around Miraflores and Barranco.

Is the Airport Express Lima Bus Worth It?

Airport Express Lima is worth it if you land during the day, travel light and your hotel is near one of its stops. It’s the airport’s official bus, it costs S/20 (S/15 each for two or more people on the same flight) and it goes straight to Miraflores.

According to the airport, its four Miraflores stops are: in front of Larcomar (Marriott), the tourist information center on Av. José Larco at San Martín, Parque Kennedy, and Hotel Boulevard on Av. José Pardo. You can buy tickets online or at its counter on level 1.

From the airport it leaves every hour on the hour, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. In the other direction, buses leave Miraflores for the airport from 6:50 a.m. to 8:50 p.m. (timetable checked October 2026). The catch: it leaves you at a stop, not at your door, and if you’re staying in Barranco or San Isidro you’ll still need another ride.

What about AeroDirecto? It’s the public bus network that serves the new terminal, with fares from S/1.20 to S/5. Its routes connect the airport with downtown Lima, Pueblo Libre, Callao and northern Lima, but none goes to Miraflores. With suitcases after a long flight, I’d skip it.

What's the Safest Way to Get From Lima Airport at Night?

If you land after 10 p.m., the safest way to get from Lima airport to your hotel is a private transfer booked in advance. It’s the one thing I tell every traveler who arrives at night.

A lot of international flights land in Lima late at night. By then the bus has stopped, the taxi counters can have lines, and an app means walking to a parking lot in the dark with your bags. With a transfer, your driver already has your flight number, is waiting with your name, and the price was agreed before you left home.

Where Do You Meet Your Driver at the New Lima Airport?

At the new Lima airport, a pre-booked driver waits for you at the arrivals exit on level 1, holding a sign with your name, right after you clear customs. This is the full sequence from the plane:

  1. Immigration (international flights only).
  2. Baggage claim.
  3. Customs.
  4. Arrivals exit, level 1: taxi counters, the Airport Express counter and drivers with name signs are all here.
  5. Apps and private cars: go up to level 2 and cross the boulevard to the parking area.

One more thing: you can’t walk out of the airport to the main road. Access to the new terminal is by vehicle only, through Av. Morales Duárez, so leaving on foot to find a cheaper taxi outside isn’t an option, and it wouldn’t be safe anyway.

How Long Does It Take From Lima Airport to Miraflores, Barranco, San Isidro or the Historic Center?

The drive from Lima airport to Miraflores takes 45–60 minutes in normal traffic and up to 90 at rush hour. The Historic Center is the closest of the main areas, about 30–45 minutes away.

Going to Usual drive At rush hour
Historic Center 30–45 min Up to 60 min
San Isidro 40–60 min Up to 80 min
Miraflores 45–60 min Up to 90 min
Barranco 50–70 min 90 min or more

Rush hour in Lima is roughly 7–10 a.m. and 5–9 p.m. on weekdays. These are our estimates from planning transfers; Lima traffic can change a lot from one day to the next.

How Early Should You Leave Miraflores for Your Flight?

For an international flight, leave Miraflores about 4 to 4.5 hours before departure; for a domestic flight, about 3 to 3.5 hours. That covers the drive plus the time the airport recommends you arrive.

Lima Airport Partners recommends arriving 3 hours before international flights, as its general manager told Expreso when the new terminal opened, and about 2 hours before domestic ones. Add up to 90 minutes of traffic and you get those numbers. This is where travelers most often get it wrong: the trip from the airport went fast, so they assume the return will too. An evening departure in weekday rush hour is a very different drive.

Taking the bus back? The first Airport Express leaves Miraflores at 6:50 a.m. and the last at 8:50 p.m., so it won’t work for flights that leave before mid-morning. Our transfers work both ways at the same price, so you can book the return together with your arrival.

Mistakes to Avoid When You Land in Lima

  • Accepting a ride from someone who approaches you. Official taxis are booked at a counter, and a private driver has your name on a sign.
  • Landing without mobile data. Without it you can’t call an app or message your driver or hotel. Set up an eSIM before you fly, or save your driver’s WhatsApp and the hotel address offline.
  • Walking out to find a cheaper taxi. There’s no pedestrian access, and the roads around the airport in Callao are not a place to wander with luggage.
  • Underestimating traffic on the way back. Use the timing above, not the time your arrival took.
