If you only have one day in Puno, this is how we plan it. In the morning a motorboat takes you across Lake Titicaca to the Uros, the islands their families build from totora reed. You have lunch back in Puno, and in the afternoon you visit Sillustani, the pre-Inca and Inca burial towers above Lake Umayo, with a stop at a family home on the way back. Both tours pick you up at your hotel. Try to arrive the day before: Puno sits at about 3,830 m and your first afternoon is for taking it easy.

Morning
Motorboat across the bay to the Uros. You visit 2 or 3 islands, meet the families and see how they build with totora reed. Optional ride on a reed boat.

Back in Puno. Lunch on your own (not included): try the lake trout, fried or as ceviche.

Pickup for the Sillustani tour and a 45-minute drive through the villages of Paucarcolla and Hatunkolla.

Walk among the chullpas, the funerary towers of the Colla and the Inca, above Lake Umayo (about 1 h 20 min).

Stop at a traditional family home of stone and adobe, with llamas and alpacas.

Back at the Plaza de Armas and your hotel.
